  • Lasath Lecamwasam was the design team leader for the recent heating system upgrade at the Museum of Australian Democracy at Old Parliament House. The project presented many challenges ranging from accessibility, compliance with new gas regulations, heritage requirements, limited as-installed information and asbestos. The heating system had to be kept operational throughout the installation to protect valuable artefacts. The MoAD are extremely pleased with the manner in which the project was accomplished for achieving our sustainability objectives and the successful integration of modern efficient technology within our heritage building. It was also pleasing to note that this project won a National Trust 2014 Award for an Outstanding Project.

  • Lasath was the team leader for a Level 2 energy audit commissioned by CSIRO in 2012 for the Canberra Deep Space Communications Centre in the ACT. Lasath managed the project in a very professional manner and was genuinely committed to delivering a detailed report of a high standard with a list of practical and cost effective recommendations, most of which had a payback less than 3 years. He adapted the approach of his team to suit the specific requirements of this site including conducting night visits due to the 24/7 operations and accommodating additional requirements such as KPIs dictated by NASA, based on antenna tracking hours. The team also carried out thermal modelling of the main operations building to support their recommendations about cost effective improvements.

  • Lasath Lecamwasam has provided the Australian National Botanic Gardens engineering services associated with design and documentation for a replacement Heating, Ventilation and Air-conditioning system (HVAC) for two major buildings in the Gardens. Lasath managed the demolition process and construction of the new HVAC system to a very high standard with the added pressures of maintaining valuable collections and comfort levels for staff. Lasath was instrumental in guiding in-house staff through the entire process and demonstrated a real ownership of the project going above and beyond contract obligations. Following contract completion Lasath continued to provide advice on the management and maintenance of the HVAC system to ensure optimal energy savings and fulfill other operational intended outcomes for both the staff and valuable library and herbarium collections on an ongoing basis. I have no hesitation recommending Lasath for similar works, Lasath is highly skilled and has the ability to communicate on all levels.

  • As part of the Australian Government’s HVAC Strategy GHD was contracted to deliver a variety of products including the Guide to Best Practice Maintenance & Operation of HVAC Systems and factsheets on chiller efficiency, boiler efficiency, BMS/Controls and Air Handling Systems. Lasath Lecamwasam, as the consultant provided a very high level of professional expertise and enthusiasm for the subjects that lead to the projects not only being delivered on time and budget but the final documents delivered to a high quality. All of which have been very well and widely received by industry. I would not hesitate in asking Lasath for advice on similar projects.
