Who we are

Engineered Solutions for Building Sustainability is a Professional Building Services Engineering Design Consultancy. We have operated since 2014 in Canberra - the land of the Ngunnawal People.

We serve clients in the ACT, NSW, and VIC. We have an excellent track record for Sustainable Design of Building Services in commercial and industrial buildings, especially when upgrading existing buildings to improve Resilience, Performance, and Energy efficiency. Sustainable design enhances energy and water efficiency in new buildings and reduces energy and water consumption in existing buildings. Electrification plays a key role for driving sustainability.

As our company name ESBS implies, we have a passion to develop Engineered Solutions that Build Sustainable Relationships through delivering Sustainable Outcomes to our valued clients - many of whom are loyal and repeat customers.

We are innovative thinkers and when challenged, we look outside the square to develop cost effective and pragmatic solutions, often to solve complex problems using innovative, but resilient solutions that cross conventional Building Services Engineering.

Electrification of existing buildings is carried out through retrofitting technology such as heat pumps to replace gas fired boilers, and upgrading electrical infrastructure including sub stations, switchboards and power distribution. Complementary technologies such as solar PV, thermal and battery storage can also be integrated, when cost effective.

The senior engineers in our Leadership Team are Chartered Professional Engineers across Mechanical and Electrical Engineering disciplines. They have active membership in leading industry associations: IEAust - Engineers Australia, AIRAH - Australian Institute of Refrigeration Air Conditioning and Heating, ASHRAE - American Society of Heating Refrigerating and Air - Conditioning Engineers, CIBSE - Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers, and NABERS - National Australian Built Environment Rating System.

  • Ecologically sustainable design - ESD, is a core part of our activities. We have an excellent track record to deliver sustainability requirements in the National Construction Code - NCC Section J and PCA, NABERS, Green Star and other client specific requirements.
