Experience

Our knowledge and experience is diverse, covering Building Services Design, Performance Optimisation, Maintenance Management and the Conservation of Energy & Water.

Building Services covers a wide range of technologies including Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC), Controls and Building Management Systems (BMS), Lighting, Electrical Power Distribution, Hydraulic Services, Fire Services, Lifts and Communications.

We are skilled in focussing on services that have the largest ecological impact through consuming most Electricity, Gas and Water in Buildings and Industrial Processes. Through careful analysis and the correct application of engineering we offer solutions that improve performance, efficiency and reliability.

Building Services Design: Our experience which includes:

Air Traffic Control Towers, Archives Facilities, Commercial Kitchens, Co-generation Systems, Defence Facilities, Deep Space Communications Centre (Tidbinbilla), Embassies, Factories,  Fire/Ambulance & Police Stations, Heat Pumps, Laboratories, Museums,  Hospitals,  Hotels, Heritage Buildings (including projects at Old and New Parliament House, Royal Australian Mint and High Court of Australia), Offices, Prisons, Schools, Sports Facilities, Swimming Pools and Thermal Storage Systems.

Innovative designs and retrofitting for energy efficiency through HVAC and services upgrades is a key theme behind our passion for sustainability and this included 4 Mort Street which was awarded the 2012 AIRAH National Engineering Excellence Award sponsored by the NSW NABERS Team for the Best HVAC and Refrigeration Retrofit.

Energy Audits: ESBS  carried out more than 150 energy audits to AS/NZS 3598 for:

Airports, Factories, Food Processing Facilities, Hotels, Hospitals, Laboratories, Mail Sorting Offices, Motor Transport Workshops, News Printing Facilities, Offices, Police Stations, Post Offices, Prisons, Residences, Schools, Shopping Centres, Stately Homes, Sports Centres, Universities, Timber Mills and Transport.

With our design and project management capabilities, we take a pragmatic view when conducting energy audits and ensure that our recommendations are practical and cost effective. The information gathered from energy audits has been invaluable when carrying out designs.

Maintenance Specifications and Management:

ESBS director Lasath has held previous engineering and maintenance management roles, including Engineering Manager at The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea in London and Plant Optimisation Engineer at Energy for Industry (Meridian Energy) in New Zealand. Lasath was the lead author for the Guide to Best Practice Maintenance and Operation of HVAC Systems for Energy Efficiency– published by the Department of Climate Change and Energy Efficiency.

Other Experience:

Cooling tower risk assessments including Defence Buildings in Russell, ACT Legislative Chambers and the Australian Parliament House. Plant compliance and condition assessments. Design Reviews. BMS remote monitoring. Hazard Classification of boilers and pressure vessels and COMCARE registration.
